How can traces of lost Baukunst be brought to light?
In my work »Bagger reißen Kunstwerk ein«, I revolve around the sculpture »3 Schulen unter einem Dach«—created by Otto Hajek in Bochum in 1972 and demolished without warning in 2011—through image, form and colour. By experimenting with materials and methods, I examine how public art is treated as part of our architectural heritage and create a form of remembrance, using both archival material and my own photographic and sculptural elements.
Using experimental photographic techniques such as cyanotype, risography, stop-motion and photograms, I create a variety of approaches that not only explore history but also raise awareness of our existing architectural heritage. At the same time, I raise questions about future engagement with public architectural art.
The work was exhibited from 23 January to 8 February 2026 at the Folkwang University of the Arts’ Stopover exhibition at SANAA in Essen.
